Laura Patterson was crowned the winner of the 2009 Miss Ireland competition and will go on to represent Ireland in the Miss World 2009 Competition in South Africa in November / December. Laura Patterson who represented Derry and was a former winner of Miss Teen Ireland, will be taking a break from studying her Law degree to fulfill her obligations as Miss Ireland.
Humble Laura didn’t tell many people she enter because she was sure she wouldn’t win and was just happy to be involved in the competition, so much so when her boyfriend told her he placed a 20Euro bet on him she had told him it was a waste and should have been put in a charity box.

congratulations miss derry. but where did miss wicklow aimee doyle dissapear too, she was robbed. competition was rigged and the competition leaves a bad taste in the general publics mouth. best of luck aimee in your career.
Congrats Laura, she really was a stunner on the night. Great personality to be representing Ireland.
Re the previous poster, John sounds like you might be friends with Aimee? She was gorgeous too, but there seems to be some sour grapes going on there. Why would you think it was rigged? Did you even go on the night?

No, I can see John’s point. Aimee was the best looking by far and should have at least been in the top 10. I was there on the night and all I could hear was Aimee’s name being mentioned. By everyone. Ms Patterson must have some serious pull. I see that she’s involved in modelling for Assets and Converse. It’s all about who you know, I suppose. There were a lot prettier girls on the night and I thought Miss Ireland was a beauty pageant.
Congrats Laura on your win. Good luck in the up coming year.
Re previous poster stacey, Sounds like you might be a friend of Lauras?
i also agree with john and feel Aimee Doyle (miss Wiclow) should have been placed at least in the top ten. Aimee Doyle was amoungst 33 fabulas looking girls and it was clear this year the competion could have been anyones, but i most say Aimee Doyle was one of my personal favorites to win and judging by paddy powers odds she was also one of the nations favorites to win. Well done to all the girls.
